On Tuesday, September 3, 2002 The muffle was pulled out of service after 6 years of duty. |
Above is the Pre-Heat Muffle is visible after the top covers and heating elements have been removed. |
Above we can see a crack in the side of the muffle. |
The crack is located a few feet from the exit of the muffle. |
The Muffle is cut out of the Furnace. |
The Muffle is now out of the furnace. |
Yep, there is a crack in it all right. |
The crack travels across the bottom of the muffle. This explains the lumps we saw earlier inside the furnace. |
Back inside the furnace the 3rd hearth plate from the end has cracked. I am curious if it cracked because it was shifting to the side, and cracked when it hit the side, or if it just started out on the side, as a result of transport, and broke. |
The 2nd from the end plate has collected debris from the crack in the muffle. The end plate has a crack, even though it has not shifted to the side. |
Our 2nd Furnace was brought back on line, and the parts that were coming out of this furnace bowed, are coming out of the 2nd furnace straight. Could the cracked Muffle cause the parts to come out bowed? What would be the reasoning? |
Thanks for helping
